PA SUPREME COURT ORPHANS' COURT RULES -- Search Page

You may search our on-line PA Supreme Court Orphans' Court document for rules/sections containing matching words or patterns.  A brief explanation of the query language is available below, along with examples.  The search function will locate words by rule or by web page.  In most cases, each rule or major section of a rule is one web page, except for Rules 1 through 4, and Rule 17 (which are short).  Use the "Find" function in the user's browser to search for a word or phrase within a web page.  In both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator, the "Find" feature is under the "Edit" function in the menu bar.

Query Language

The text search engine allows queries to be formed from arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. For example:

information retrieval
finds documents containing 'information' or 'retrieval'

information or retrieval
same as above

information and retrieval
finds documents containing both 'information' and 'retrieval'

information not retrieval
finds documents containing 'information' but not 'retrieval'

(information not retrieval) and WAIS
finds documents containing 'WAIS', plus 'information' but not 'retrieval'

web*
finds documents containing words starting with 'web'
